Some residents in the southern part of North Berkeley Hills are within walking distance of the thriving retail district on Solano Avenue which features a wide variety of stores, shops, and plenty of great restaurants.

Additionally, North Berkeley has long been at the forefront of culinary innovation and foodies who love a variety of cuisines are just a short walk or drive away from the infamous Gourmet Ghetto neighborhood. Locals flock to the original Peet’s Coffee & Tea location, and line up on Friday nights to eat artisan pizzas and listen to live local musicians at the Cheeseboard Co-op. Excellent bakeries, a thriving Farmers market, organic grocers, specialty butchers, a true New York deli and a host of diverse restaurants are just some of the food choices available. The (now) world famous and innovative 'Edible Schoolyard' is located at the nearby middle school, teaching the next generation of Berkeleyans the importance of eating locally grown food.

Neighborhood green spaces abound throughout Berkeley, from small community gardens to the Berkeley Rose Garden -- which boasts more than 3,000 rose bushes. The gem of the area is 2,000-acre Tilden Regional Park, with its miles of biking and hiking trails and the naturally landscaped swimming hole at Lake Anza. Tilden Park activities also include a beautiful botanical garden, the Little Farm, a classic Merry-Go-Round, and world class Tilden Golf Course.

 

North Berkeley is extremely transit-friendly. The Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District bus lines that serve the neighborhood go directly to the City and downtown Oakland, or drop residents at a choice of BART stations for a quick commute to downtown San Francisco or the airport.  North Berkeley truly offers the best of East Bay living.

I have a confession: After 25-plus years, I love my job more than ever, even as the Bay Area market has gone through dramatic changes. Maybe because of that, connecting each Client to the right property still holds my full attention and fascination. I work hard to match people and places by knowing both really well. I keep a level head, but keep in mind hopes and dreams. I’m an upbeat and enthusiastic advocate for each of my many long term and repeat Clients. Your particular real estate challenge is what fuels me, and after decades of hands-on experience, I know how to get the job done. I’ve been told I’ve got intelligence and wit - so I will make sure you are informed and protected throughout your important transaction, striving to make the end-result a joyful occasion. I’ve lived and raised my family in the East Bay since 1985, and have been involved in a multitude of local community activities -- schools, sports, charities and the arts. My background has set me up for success -- I attended UCLA and UC DAVIS, graduating with a degree in Economics. Where do I start? I can't say enough good things about Nancy! She helped us find a very "special" property and worked her magic to get us a great deal! We had very specific criteria, including not getting caught up in bidding wars, which is really hard in this current market environment. We looked around and made several offers for over a year, and Nancy stuck with us the whole time. She was extremely patient, knowledgeable and persisted to help us find the right property. She went above and beyond, even finding us properties that weren't on the market. When we did finally find the property in Oakland that we bought, Nancy negotiated really hard for us, and we were able to get it not only $20k below asking, but Nancy also negotiated $20k in closing costs for us, and the seller had to pay for the sewer lateral work! In this hot frenzied market, that is completely unheard of! And when some issues arose after the sale completed, Nancy continued to help us, even when she could have walked away. She really is an amazing realtor (and we have had many others in the past), but nobody went above and beyond like Nancy did!
